Barresi Questions Legality Of Board's Action

From www.tulsaworld.com ~ State Superintendent Janet Barresi said she will ask the state attorney general to investigate if the state Board of Education violated Open Meeting laws during a raucous meeting that included name-calling and heated exchanges.

"It was a well-planned and concerted effort to thwart" her work as superintendent, she told the Tulsa World on Friday.

During the meeting, board members took a vote that was not on the agenda.

But that was just one controversy to come out of a meeting marked by "rank partisanship," Barresi said, although she noted that she has heard from Democrats throughout the state who have apologized for the board's behavior.
