Inhofe, Santa Tie In Parade Popularity Contest

From The Tulsa World In Broken Arrow ~ It was hard to tell who was more popular in Broken Arrow on Saturday morning, Santa Claus or U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe.

While Santa embodies the spirit of Christmas, Inhofe’s stance in favor of keeping the word “Christmas” in parades marking the holiday season was a popular one with those who turned out Saturday for Broken Arrow’s annual event.

“It’s a Christmas parade,” said 27-year-old Broken Arrow native Drew Brandt, shortly after exchanging greetings with the senator. “It always has been. We’re celebrating Christmas.”

Inhofe caused a stir last week when he announced that he will not be taking part in this year’s “McNellie’s Holiday Parade of Lights” in Tulsa next Saturday due to the decision to drop the word “Christmas” from the event’s title.
