Gubernatorial Debate Audience Measured

A television ratings service estimates the audience for last night's televised gubernatorial debate between Jari Askins and Mary Fallin was about 81,000.

The Nielsen overnight meters, an industry source reports, show the debate averaged a rating of 8.1 and a share of 12. The rating means that 8.1 percent of the people in the Oklahoma City television market were watching. The share means that 12 percent of the people who had their TV's on at the time were watching. With about a million people in the metro, that comes to about 81,000 people who watched.
