FEC Cites 2nd District Republican Nominee

The Federal Election Commission is trying to get the attention of the Republican nominee for Congress in the 2nd District, Charles Thompson.

The FEC says Thompson is not filing his reports in timely fashion. They've notified him he's in violation of the federal election code and they've sent him letter citations.

The list of FEC infractions is long:
~ No October 2010 Quarterly report is listed as filed on FEC website. This was due on October 15th.
~ No Pre-general 2010 report is listed as filed on FEC website. This was due October 21st.
~ Letter of non-compliance from September 21st regarding issues with April 2010 Quarterly report. According to FEC website, these issues still have not been corrected.
~ Letter of non-compliance from September 21st regarding issues with July 2010 Quarterly report. According to FEC website, these issues still have not been cured.
~ Letter of non-compliance from September 21st regarding issues with Pre-runoff 2010 report. According to FEC website, these issues still have not been cured.
~ Notice of failure to file from July 16th regarding Pre-Primary 2010 report, which was due on July 15th. This was fixed with a filing of the paperwork on July 20th (after the deadline given by the FEC to correct the issue). Then that report was still out of compliance per the above September 21st letter of non-compliance.

Thompson faces more aggressive FEC action if corrections aren't filed by tomorrow. Those actions could include an audit of his campaign's finances.

Bogger Jamison Faught at Muskogee Politico first brought attention to Thompson's flawed reports.
