Longtime Democratic Leader Clara Haas Dead At 88

Longtime Oklahoma County Democratic Party activist and leader Clara Haas has died at age 88.

The former host of "Senior Speaks" on several radio stations, the former "Rosie The Riveter" of World War II was retired from Western Electric.

She was speaker pro tem of the Silver Haired Legislature and a delegate to the White House Conference on Aging. In 2001, she received the Leadership Award of the National Council on Social Security and Medicare. She also was active in the American Legion and was the recipient of  the Valley Forge Award for service to veterans from the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge.

She served as vice chairman and chairman of the Oklahoma County Democratic Party.
