DA Prater Says Legislature Had 'Slush Fund'

By Nolan Clay/The Oklahoman ~ Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater confirmed Friday he is expanding his political corruption probe because he believes legislators repeatedly misappropriated drug enforcement money.

"It appears that the Legislature is using this money as a slush fund,” the prosecutor told The Oklahoman.

The prosecutor began the probe because of allegations state Rep. Randy Terrill conspired to create an $80,000-a-year state job for Sen. Debbe Leftwich so his friend, Rep. Mike Christian, could run for her seat.

The district attorney intends to present evidence next month to the state's multicounty grand jury.
