Now You See It, Now...: Of all the silliness that wanders the Capitol, the flap over President Obama's portrait in the House chamber is about the worst example. Seems at least one Republican didn't like the portrait, so he (re)moved it. That upset Rep. Mike Shelton, who complained...and then pulled a stupid himself by removing former Speaker Lance Cargill's portrait. Question is: Who removed the Obama portrait? Has anyone looked at the chamber security camera tape? House Speaker Chris Benge said leave the portrait where it is and keep your mitts off it, whoever you were. Dang sure glad that portrait of me that was in the 2nd floor men's urinal was removed long ago.
The Gadfly's Not On That Wall

Green It Tis: St. Paddy's Day is upon us and it's a fine day for we sons of the sod. Meself, I'll be blathering into the microphone at the annual parade in downtown Oklahoma City. 1 p.m. Elevated seating available in Bricktown.
Oh Please: It is of no comfort to lifetime smokers like me that there's a new study out claiming that smoking helps prevent Parkinson's disease. If I can quit coughing long enough, I'll laugh out loud.
Movin' On Up: Rep. Anastasia Pittman, my estimation, likely will continue her political ascent. She's smart, savvy, reasonable (most of the time). The eastside Oklahoma City Democrat is a logical candidate for the State Senate in the future. I've liked her personally since I put her on the air as a weekend show host at KTOK years ago.
And The Winner Is: Wow. Six GOP candidates for Congress in the 5th District thus far. That's what I call a primary.
Daffynitions: Political labels continue to fall like confetti. "Conservative" no longer seems to mean much; today, it seems "ultra-conservative" or "right wing" is the descriptive phrase. There are other, far less charitable, phrases thrown about as well. Ditto when it comes to describing those of the liberal persuasion. Seems like a lot of time is spent trying to define others.
