Terri Watkins Confirms FBI Interview
From www.demookie.com ~ The spokeswoman for state Auditor and Inspector Jeff McMahan met last week with FBI agents for as long as 30 minutes.
Terri Watkins, McMahan's spokeswoman, confirmed the Wednesday meeting Monday but would not discuss specifics.
She said she doesn't know whether she will talk to the agents again and referred questions about whether other employees met with the FBI to Rand Eddy, McMahan's lawyer, who said he doesn't know whether other workers in Mahan's office had talked to the FBI.
McMahan and his wife, Lori McMahan, also have met with the FBI. The FBI has conferred with McMahan regarding his connections to Steve Phipps, who once ran an abstracting business in partnership with former state Sen. Gene Stipe of McAlester.
Stipe is serving five years of probation for federal campaign funding violations and perjury linked to Walt Roberts' failed congressional race. The U.S. Probation Office is alleging that Stipe has violated the conditions of his probation by associating with a felon despite admonishments against it. Phipps has pleaded guilty to paying kickbacks to lawmakers who funneled state money to his business. Terri Watkins' image courtesy KOCO-TV, her former employer.
