Ballot Access Coalition Files New Petition
A coalition working to place third parties on the Oklahoma ballot has filed a new initiative petition. Oklahomans For Ballot Access Reform filed the petition, which replaces the one it filed last month. The first petition proposed allowing a political party to maintain its recognition of it received 1 percent of the vote in a general election; the new petition changes that to 2 percent. Current law requires 10 percent of the vote for governor or president. Those in the coalition include The Libertarian Party of Oklahoma, The Oklahoma Constitution Party, the Oklahoma Green Party and Independents not affilated with any party. The coalition has until January 14th to gather the required 74,117 signatures to place the issue on the ballot.
